High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT for short), is undoubtedly the best way to torch body fat, lose weight, get strong & get fit in a very short space of time.
Over the last couple of years, Tabata (a form of HIIT) has had a massive impact on the fitness industry, and why, because it's short in duration, intense & it works. If you're not familiar with Tabata, it's a system of training where you work hard for 20 seconds, pause for 10 seconds and do 8 sets, giving a total time of 4 minutes per round!
HIIT can be any timings the trainer prefers. It could be 20/10 as above, 30/30, 60/15......there is no set timings. The HIGH INTENSITY bit comes from the effort you're willing to put in. Ideally, the 'work' phase should be around 80-90% of your maximum heart rate (MHR). If you don't know what your MHR is you could use a 1-10 scale (1 being 'still in bed', 10 being 'just about to explode')....you should aim to work at about 7-9.
